FAQs

  • Great question.

Once you’ve scheduled your initial consultation, you’ll be sent your standard healthcare forms: HIPAA and safety compliance forms, consent forms, payment forms, an intake questionnaire, etc.

After you’ve filled these out, we will meet for our consultation where we will get a chance to learn more about each other. This is the chance for you to start to get a feel for who I am as a therapist.

A crucial aspect to therapy is the therapeutic relationship - the connection we have as a client and therapist. Some questions to consider when looking for a therapist may include:

    • Do I feel welcomed and comfortable with this therapist?

    • Do I feel safe to eventually open up to them?

If you feel connected with me, then incredible - we’ve reached our first therapy goal!

As we continue to meet, some general questions that we might cover in our first few sessions include:

    • What made you reach out in the first place?

    • What are the areas in your life that you’d like to see changed?

    • What are some habits or patterns of behaviors that you’ve noticed that are causing anxiety or stress in your life?

  • The biggest difference between going to a confidant versus a therapist is the ability to be objective in our conversations. Your friends, family, and loved ones have a natural bias towards you and your perspective; plus, sometimes they’re just…not very helpful?

In therapy, you’ll be given the chance to talk about your struggles and barriers to healing with someone trained to be objective. Therapy also allows you the space to learn a whole bunch of skills that ultimately can help you build perspective and enact change based on your values. Plus, everything stays between you and me - no need to worry about other people being nosy.
